Rocket Tracking Beacon Frequencies

Post by Graydon Tranquilla »

If you intend to use a rocket radio beacon for rocket tracking and recovery, please first review the existing rocket beacon database posted (until furthe notice) in the files section of the CanadianRocketry Yahoogroups.

Then select an unused frequency for configuration and testing. Once testing is complete please send me an email c/w your preferred frequency so it can be loaded into this database for others to avoid.

Unless your beacon is FHSS type, coordination of frequencies is required to prevent RFI - radio frequency interference issues during launch events. RFI will disable rocket beacon tracking capability resulting in lost rockets especially when launched to higher altitudes and/or in windy conditions.

With the exception of a final pre-flight radio beacon check, all radio beacon configuration and testing needs to be completed prior to arrival at the launch site and/or off site..... and at a very significant distance. 8)

HAM call signs have now been entered. HAM radio operators please confirm your HAM call sign is entered correctly.

Reminder.....Always carry your HAM certificate with you when operating your HAM radio......

Bonus: Those with a HAM radio license are exempt from Canada's distracted driver regulations when using any communication device while driving...... yes.... that is true!
